Macau Casino Revenue Falls 10% in October, Marking Fifth Consecutive Monthly Decline

Macau's casino industry recorded gross gaming revenue of MOP 21.68 billion ($2.68 billion) in October 2026, down 10% year-on-year despite the Golden Week holiday. The result marks the fifth consecutive month of annual revenue declines.

Macau's casino industry continues to face pressure after the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) reported a 10% year-on-year decline in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for October 2026.

According to official figures released on November 1, casino GGR reached MOP 21.68 billion ($2.68 billion), compared with MOP 24.09 billion in October 2025.

The decline was particularly notable because October included China's National Day Golden Week, traditionally one of the strongest tourism periods for Macau's integrated resorts.

Despite the annual decrease, revenue improved approximately 20% compared with September, when casinos generated MOP 18.06 billion.

October marked the fifth consecutive month of negative year-on-year growth, following weaker results during the summer and early autumn.

For January–October 2026, accumulated GGR reached MOP 208.8 billion ($25.9 billion), representing a modest 1.6% increase compared with the same period in 2025. The cumulative growth rate has slowed significantly as weaker monthly performances offset earlier gains.

Market analysts have pointed to softer premium-mass gaming demand and changing visitor spending patterns as possible contributors to the slowdown.

The latest results underline the challenges facing Macau's six casino concessionaires, particularly as the industry continues investing in non-gaming attractions and tourism infrastructure.

With only two months remaining in 2026, November and December revenues will determine whether Macau can maintain positive annual growth. The market's performance will also provide an important indication of how effectively visitor numbers are translating into casino spending.
