M7 World Championship: Aurora Gaming PH take the crown as MLBB sets new mobile esports viewership highs
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s flagship M-Series event ran in Jakarta from 3 to 25 January 2026 and ended with a one-sided Grand Final, while the Knockout Stage delivered record-breaking audiences for mobile esports.
M7 is the seventh edition of MLBB’s global World Championship, bringing 22 teams to Indonesia for a multi-stage format designed to filter contenders into a double-elimination playoff bracket. The tournament opened with a Wild Card phase (3–6 January), followed by a Swiss Stage (10–17 January) and the Knockout phase, with early matches at MPL Arena XO Hall and the closing stretch (including the BO7 Grand Final) played at Tennis Indoor Stadium Senayan from 21 to 25 January.
The title was decided on 25 January, when Aurora Gaming PH defeated Indonesia’s Alter Ego 4–0 in Jakarta, securing the $320,000 champion’s prize from the $1,000,000 total pool. Alter Ego earned $150,000, while Aurora’s Dylan “Light” Catipon was named tournament MVP and received an additional $5,000. Bernama also noted the result as the first clean-sweep Grand Final in the M-Series since M4.
Beyond the competitive storyline, M7 became a landmark for audience metrics in mobile esports. Esports Charts reported an all-time mobile-esports peak of 5,594,138 concurrent viewers during the Lower Bracket Final (Alter Ego vs Selangor Red Giants), surpassing the previous category record held since 2021. The same report highlighted platform and language records, including a TikTok esports peak of 2,420,778 and an Indonesian-language peak of 3,854,485, underscoring how strongly regional rivalries can translate into global-scale viewing.
Takeaway: M7 is a clear signal that MLBB has moved from “regional mobile success” to a mature, top-tier esports product, with viewership benchmarks that will reshape expectations for sponsors, broadcasters, and organizers across the entire mobile segment.
