Liverpool Break Premier League Transfer Record with £125m Signing of Alexander Isak
Liverpool have once again set a new Premier League transfer record after completing the signing of Swedish striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United for £125 million.
The deal surpasses previous league records, including Chelsea’s purchase of Enzo Fernández (£107m) and Moisés Caicedo (£115m). Isak’s arrival underlines Liverpool’s determination to reinforce their attacking options as the club aims to compete strongly in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
Isak, 26, scored 25 goals across all competitions for Newcastle last season, establishing himself as one of the most clinical forwards in English football. His move to Anfield comes at a time when Liverpool are looking to strengthen their frontline following injuries and depth concerns.
Speaking after the announcement, manager Jürgen Klopp praised the striker’s versatility and finishing ability, describing Isak as “a player with the qualities to make a big difference for Liverpool’s future.”
The record-breaking transfer highlights the Premier League’s continued financial dominance on the global market, though it has also reignited debates about spending sustainability and the gap between English clubs and their European rivals.
