Kenya's gambling regulator urges betting companies to renew licenses
The Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) of Kenya has called on all betting and gambling companies to apply for the renewal of their licenses for the financial year 2024/25, as reported by Citizen TV Kenya on YouTube.
The BCLB has also instructed all betting and gambling companies to adopt a new gaming management system promptly, in line with the government's directives for all businesses to digitize and enhance revenue collection. According to BCLB CEO Peter Mbugi, this will make their work easier and more effective compared to previous years when they have been processing applications and conducting processes manually.
It should be noted that currently, only 97 out of 180 licensed firms have integrated their systems with the Kenyan Revenue Authority (KRA).
Last year, the KRA collected Kshs 24 billion from betting and gaming entities.
