Kenya’s EA Sports FC champion Harry “Kappa” signs with Morocco’s RCA Zemamra, becoming first Kenyan to land a pro esports deal abroad
The 20-year-old national title holder is joining Morocco’s eBotola League, a rare fully professional esports setup in Africa, as Kenya’s competitive gaming scene looks for bigger international pathways.
Kenyan esports player Harry “Kappa” has secured a landmark move after signing a professional contract with Moroccan club Renaissance Club Athletic Zemamra (RCAZ), according to multiple Kenyan outlets covering the transfer.
Kappa, described as Kenya’s reigning EA Sports FC (EAFC) national champion, becomes the first Kenyan esports athlete reported to have signed a professional deal outside the country, with the move placing him into Morocco’s eBotola League environment.
Reports also indicate he is set to travel to Casablanca ahead of the competition window, with coverage citing the league schedule running from 26 February to 25 April.
For Kenya’s esports ecosystem, the signing is more than an individual breakthrough: it’s a proof point that top domestic performers can be exported into structured, professionalised leagues, and it raises the bar for local pathways around talent identification, coaching and federation-level support.
