JJ Gabriel Expected to Leave Manchester United as Europe’s Biggest Clubs Circle

Manchester United’s highly rated 16-year-old forward JJ Gabriel is increasingly expected to leave Old Trafford, with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain monitoring his future. Elsewhere, Harry Kane is nearing a new Bayern deal and Crystal Palace have opened contract talks with Ismaila Sarr.

Manchester United could lose one of their most highly rated academy talents after JJ Gabriel and his family formally requested to leave the club, with several of Europe’s biggest teams interested in the 16-year-old.

Real Madrid and Barcelona have held discussions with Gabriel’s representatives, while Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the situation. No club-to-club negotiations have taken place and the player’s family has not yet selected his next destination.

Gabriel turned 16 on October 6, an important point in determining his next move. He is eligible to apply for a European passport through his parents, and Sky Sports reports that this could provide a route for him to join a European club despite remaining registered with Manchester United until the end of the season. United are considering legal action if another club attempts to sign him through what the club views as a loophole in FIFA rules.

The disagreement appears to centre on Gabriel’s pathway into the first team. United involved him in pre-season training and gave him minutes against Atletico Madrid, but his family wanted a faster route into competitive senior football. Gabriel has not trained with the club since the relationship deteriorated.

United still believe they can provide the best environment for his development, but a departure now appears increasingly likely. The situation has attracted particular attention because Gabriel is regarded as one of the leading prospects in the club’s academy.

Elsewhere in the transfer market, Harry Kane’s negotiations over a new Bayern Munich contract have reached the final stages. The proposed agreement is expected to run until 2029, with only final details remaining. Barcelona have monitored Kane’s situation, but the England captain has repeatedly indicated that he is happy in Munich and wants to stay.

Back in the Premier League, Crystal Palace are in talks with Ismaila Sarr’s representatives over a new contract. Discussions have been described as positive, although an agreement is not yet close. Sarr’s current deal runs until 2029; Galatasaray made a summer bid and Liverpool also showed interest.

Gabriel’s future is therefore likely to remain one of the most closely watched youth-transfer stories ahead of the next window. Manchester United still control his registration, but interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern and PSG means the club faces a serious challenge to retain one of its most promising young players.
