Guinea appoints Board of Directors for gaming sector regulatory body

In Guinea on May 15, 2024, General Mamady Doumbouya, the transitional president, announced the appointment of the Board of Directors for the Gaming Sector and Assimilated Practices Regulatory Authority (ARSJPA). This development was broadcast live on national television through a presidential decree.

The ARSJPA Board of Directors comprises eight members representing various government entities such as the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection, the Ministry of Post, Telecommunications and Digital Economy, the National State Agency for Digitalization, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and YellowBet, a prominent betting company that has been active in Guinea since 2023.

Dan Lamah, serving as the Deputy Director General for Taxes, has been designated as the President of the ARSJPA.

Established by Mamady Doumbouya's decree in late January 2023, Guinea's gaming regulatory body, ARSJPA, operates as an independent government administrative entity under the technical oversight of the President and financial supervision of the Ministry of Finance. This regulatory body marks a pivotal moment in Guinea's efforts to modernize its approach to gambling and digital practices, ensuring they align with national security and economic objectives.
