Goa set to unveil India's first online lottery on November 24

The Goa government is set to launch India's first fully online lottery, named "Great Goa Games," with the inaugural draw scheduled for November 24, 2024. This groundbreaking initiative aims to modernize the lottery experience by leveraging technology to enhance transparency and accessibility for participants across the country.

Narayan Gad, the Director of Small Savings and Lotteries for the Goa government, emphasized that the online lottery will streamline operations and ensure a transparent process. "With our online lottery utilizing advanced technology, we are establishing a new standard in the industry," he stated. The platform is designed to be entirely paperless, moving away from traditional paper-based lotteries that are still prevalent in over a dozen Indian states.

The collaboration between Rhiti Sports and Dusane Infotech aims to provide a seamless experience for lottery enthusiasts. The Great Goa Games lottery promises a substantial prize pool exceeding ₹50 crore (approximately $5.9 million), with over 50% of the funds collected being returned as prizes.

Additionally, educational resources on responsible gambling will be available to inform participants about the associated risks and rewards.

This launch comes at a time when gaming and entertainment through chance-based activities are increasingly accepted across India. The initiative not only seeks to engage a diverse audience but also aims to address tax revenue losses estimated at ₹2 lakh crore by promoting a regulated and transparent lottery system.
