Ghana Football Association (GFA) bans betting on domestic football leagues
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a ban on betting on the Premier League, Division 1, Women's Premier League and all other competitions in the country. The decision was taken as part of a comprehensive strategy to combat match-fixing in the country.
Now, no bookmaker is allowed to accept bets on domestic competitions, and violations will be subject to strict legal action. The GFA calls on all interested parties to immediately report violations of the ban via a special hotline.
All players and officials will sign a document obliging them to adhere to the principles of transparency.
The ban should eliminate the influence of external factors and manipulation on game results, restoring the reputation of local football and the trust of fans. Despite the good intentions of the innovation, it may affect the reduction of bookmakers' revenues.
