Gary Jacob (The Times): Bukayo Saka Is Arsenal’s Next Priority to Secure on Mega Contract

The Times journalist Gary Jacob reports that Arsenal have already entered contract talks with Bukayo Saka, in an effort to keep him at the club as a next "key player." The proposed deal could be worth around £300,000 per week, potentially making him Arsenal’s highest-paid player.

According to Gary Jacob’s recent column, Arsenal view Bukayo Saka as the next cornerstone of their squad they must lock down. Talks have reportedly begun on a new contract that, if agreed, would elevate him above all current earners in north London.

The proposed figure, as per the report, is in the region of £300,000 per week. Such a wage would likely place Saka ahead of his peers at Arsenal in terms of salary.

Saka’s current contract runs until 2027, giving the club some time, but this early approach suggests they are keen to avoid letting their star enter the final years of his deal unprotected.

In recent seasons, Saka has become integral to Arsenal’s attacking play and identity. His pace, work rate, and ability to influence games have made him one of the most important players in the squad. The club’s management sees him as central to both their present ambitions and future plans.

From Saka’s perspective, past interviews show he has emphasized his desire to win trophies at Arsenal, and his bond with the fans. He has also signaled that while he is committed to the club, there has been no rush on a new deal so far.

If the contract materializes as reported, it will also serve as a statement of intent from Arsenal: to retain their rising stars and compete financially with Europe’s elite.
