Gaming in Spain Webinar to Examine Prediction Betting Opportunities and World Cup 2026 Impact

Gaming in Spain has opened registration for its upcoming webinar, “Licensed Prediction Betting in Spain”, scheduled for Tuesday, June 30 at 15:30 CET. The event will bring together legal and market experts to discuss key developments shaping the Spanish iGaming sector, with a particular focus on prediction betting and the opportunities available under current regulatory frameworks.

The webinar will feature presentations from Xavi Munoz Bellvehí, Managing Partner at ECIJA Barcelona, Camille Gonzálvez, TMT & iGaming Lawyer at ECIJA, and Josh Hodgson, Chief Operating Officer at H2 Gambling Capital.

Attendees will receive an update on Spain’s evolving regulatory landscape, including the latest developments surrounding the DGOJ’s mandatory problem gambling detection algorithm and proposed cross-operator deposit limits. The session will also provide insights into market performance, growth projections, and the legal considerations surrounding prediction betting products in Spain.

One of the central topics will be whether prediction betting can be offered under existing Spanish gambling licenses. As interest in prediction-based products continues to grow internationally, operators are increasingly evaluating opportunities to expand their offerings within established regulatory frameworks.

In addition to regulatory analysis, the webinar will examine the expected impact of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Spain’s licensed sports betting sector. According to research conducted by H2 Gambling Capital, the tournament is expected to generate approximately €2 billion in sports betting handle for licensed Spanish operators during the competition.

The analysis suggests that betting activity will be driven by a combination of increased spending from active customers, the return of dormant players, and new player registrations attracted by the world’s biggest football event.

On a Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) basis, H2 Gambling Capital estimates that the 2026 FIFA World Cup could generate around €135 million for Spain’s regulated sports betting market, highlighting the tournament’s importance as a major commercial opportunity for licensed operators.

The webinar is free to attend and offers industry stakeholders a valuable opportunity to gain insights into both regulatory developments and market trends ahead of one of the most significant sporting events of the decade.
