Gambling license fees increased in Romania

Romania has increased the value of gambling licence fees. This follows from the decree of the Ministry of Finance, published last Thursday.
According to the content of the document, the new annual licence fee for gambling on the Internet will be 500 thousand euros. It will cost the same amount to hold bingo games and their broadcast on television.
The licence fee for lottery and betting activities will be 200 thousand euros.
The licence fee for betting will increase to 50 thousand euros.
The licence fee for organising a poker club will increase to 5 thousand euros. The same amount will be the licence fee for the organisation of bingo games in gaming halls.
The annual fee for one gaming table in a casino will be 4 thousand euros.
Operation of a video lottery terminal will cost 100 euros. At the same time in 2024 the cost of the licence will increase to 300 euros, and in 2025 - up to 500 euros.
The document also introduces a requirement for the organisers of gambling business to open a representative office in Romania and tightens the rules of gambling advertising. In addition, a ban on alcohol consumption in gambling establishments is introduced.
