FURIA Win Thunderpick World Championship 2026 After Thrilling Five-Map Final

Brazilian esports organisation FURIA claimed the Thunderpick World Championship 2026 title in Malta, defeating BetBoom Team 3–2 in a dramatic Counter-Strike 2 final and securing the $500,000 championship prize.

The Thunderpick World Championship 2026 concluded on October 18 in Malta, bringing together eight international Counter-Strike 2 teams competing for a total prize pool of $1 million. Held at BLAST Studios from October 14 to 18, the tournament featured FURIA, Falcons, Aurora, BetBoom, Legacy, 9z, PARIVISION and Ninjas in Pyjamas.

The competition began with two double-elimination groups, with the four strongest teams advancing to the playoffs. Among the early surprises was South American squad 9z's 2–0 victory over Aurora, although the Turkish organisation later recovered to reach the semifinals.

FURIA demonstrated consistent form throughout the event, progressing through the group stage before defeating Aurora 2–0 in the semifinals. Meanwhile, BetBoom secured its place in the championship match with a 2–1 victory over Falcons.

The grand final delivered the tournament's biggest drama. FURIA opened with a 13–6 victory on Dust2, but BetBoom responded by winning Ancient 19–16 in overtime and Nuke 13–9. Facing defeat, the Brazilian-majority lineup fought back on Mirage, winning 13–11, before dominating the deciding Cache map 13–6 to secure the championship 3–2.

Led by veteran captain Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, FURIA successfully defended its Thunderpick title, having also won the 2025 edition. The victory marked the team's first tournament championship of 2026.

FURIA received $500,000 in combined player and club prize money, while runners-up BetBoom earned $250,000. Aurora finished third after defeating Falcons 2–1, taking home $100,000.

With a dramatic final, unexpected results and a seven-figure prize pool, Thunderpick World Championship 2026 highlighted the intensity of international CS2 competition. FURIA's successful title defence strengthens its position among the leading teams ahead of the remaining major tournaments of the season.
