Ethiopia has officially entered the digital age of gaming with the launch of its first-ever digital lottery, marking a historic moment for the country's lottery and technology sectors.

The announcement ceremony took place at the prestigious Sky Light Hotel some days before, bringing together key figures including CEOs, members of the Ethiopian Lottery Service board, stakeholders, lucky winners, and representatives from various organizations.

The digital lottery was officially launched by Honorable Habtamu H/Michael, Deputy CEO of Ethiopia Investment Holdings (EIH), Beza Girma, CEO of the Ethiopian Lottery Service, and Solomon Kebere, CEO of Tamcon Software Solution.

During his keynote speech, Hon. Habtamu H/Michael highlighted the Ethiopian Lottery Service’s long-standing contribution over the past 64 years in creating entertainment, job opportunities, and rewarding citizens across the country. He emphasized that the institution, now entering the digital era, has the potential to play an even greater role in national development through innovation and technology.

The Deputy CEO also pointed out that EIH, established in 2014 E.C. by the Council of Ministers, has a mandate to mobilize, manage, and grow national resources while attracting additional investments into the country. Since its inception, Ethiopia Investment Holdings has been managing over 40 public enterprises—including the Ethiopian Lottery Service—transforming them into competitive and profitable institutions that contribute meaningfully to the national economy.

The launch of the digital lottery represents a new chapter in Ethiopia’s technological and economic transformation, aligning with global trends and modern consumer expectations.
