Delasport enters South Africa with sportsbook certification

Delasport has taken another major step in its global expansion, securing official certification for its sportsbook in the South African market. Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) issued the company an Affirmative Statement of Compliance, enabling operations in key jurisdictions such as Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape, and six other provinces.

In a LinkedIn announcement, Delasport expressed its enthusiasm for entering South Africa’s regulated market, emphasizing its commitment to localization. “We are excited to enter such a promising regulated market like South Africa and show what real localization looks like,” said Delasport’s CEO, Oren Cohen Shwartz.

Founded in 2010, Delasport is a leading global B2B iGaming software supplier specializing in sports betting, online casino solutions, and player account management. The company operates internationally with offices in Malta, Bulgaria, Gibraltar, and several other regulated markets, including the UK, Netherlands, Brazil, and now South Africa.

South Africa’s sports betting market has seen remarkable growth, with gross gambling revenue reaching R59.3 billion in 2023-2024, a 25.7% increase from the previous year. Sports betting dominates the market, contributing 60.5% of the total revenue.

The market’s expansion is fueled by factors like increasing smartphone penetration, growing digital platforms, and South Africa’s vibrant sports culture. With the African gambling industry projected to hit R213 billion by 2032, Delasport’s entry into South Africa positions it to capitalize on this thriving sector.
