Colombia’s lottery and chance games boosted health funds with $613 billion in 2024

In 2024, Colombia’s territorial games saw a 7% increase in transfers to local and departmental health funds. A total of $613.2 billion was allocated to municipalities and regional governments to strengthen the subsidized healthcare system.

"Chance, lotteries, and Raspa&Listo continue to show positive performance in sales and contributions to healthcare. We estimate that these funds could help provide medical services to 488,187 Colombians under the subsidized healthcare system," said Marco Emilio Hincapié, President of Coljuegos.

In 2024, the chance game contributed a total of $320.4 billion, marking a 4% increase compared to 2023. Meanwhile, the 15 lottery operators in the country transferred $254.7 billion to local and departmental health funds.

Additionally, beyond these contributions to healthcare, territorial games paid out approximately $1.7 trillion in prizes to players in 2024.

"Chance players received about $1.13 trillion in winnings, reflecting both the strong performance of the game and the returns to participants. Lotteries awarded $312.2 billion in prizes, while Raspa&Listo paid out $169.5 billion," Hincapié stated.

He added: "This proves that playing legally is truly worthwhile. We encourage Colombians to continue purchasing chance, lottery, and Raspa&Listo tickets only from authorized sellers. This way, they can win major prizes while also supporting healthcare for those in need."
