Colombia's Coljuegos achieves historic $1 billion collection in 2024
Coljuegos, Colombia’s gambling regulator, ended 2024 with record revenues of $1 billion, primarily directed to the health sector. This achievement, the highest since its establishment in 2011, results from improved management, technological advancements, and efforts to combat illegal activities.
President Marco Emilio Hincapié emphasized that these funds are vital for enhancing medical services, especially in vulnerable regions, benefiting approximately 796,178 Colombians under the subsidized health regime. The growth is driven by online betting, which increased by 31.9%, alongside other gaming types.
Coljuegos also reported that localized games contributed around COP 348 billion ($79 million) to the health system this year. Looking ahead, the organization aims for a collection target of $1.2 billion in 2025, with plans to introduce new games like Keno.
Overall, Coljuegos' success underscores its commitment to public health and the development of a regulated gaming industry in Colombia.
