China lottery sales up 59% in October 2023
In October 2023, Chinese residents bought 47.34 billion yuan ($6.61 billion) worth of lottery tickets. This follows from data published recently by the Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China.
Compared to the same period in 2022, sales increased by 59.3%. At the same time, when compared with September 2023, sales volume decreased by 5.43 million yuan.
Sales of lottery tickets to support the sports industry rose to 31.85 billion yuan, exceeding the October 2022 figure by 70.1%. Sales of lottery tickets to support China's social security system reached 15.49 billion yuan, up 40.9% year-on-year.
Lottery sales for the ten months of this year amounted to 475.88 billion yuan, up 53.0% year-on-year.
