China lottery sales increased by 58% in September 2023
In September 2023, Chinese residents bought 52.77 billion yuan ($7.19 billion) worth of lottery tickets. This follows from data published recently by the Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China.
Compared to the same period in 2022, sales increased by 53.6%. At the same time, when compared with August 2023, sales decreased by 210 million yuan.
Sales of lottery tickets supporting the sports industry rose to 34.56 billion yuan, up 64.5% from September 2022. Sales of lottery tickets to support China's social security system reached 18.21 billion yuan, up 47.9% year-on-year.
Lotteries sales in the nine months of this year amounted to 428.54 billion yuan, up 52.4% year-on-year.
