Chilean Casino Association refutes claims of online betting legality after prosecutor’s decision

The Chilean Association of Casinos and Games (ACCJ) reportedly raised concerns following the Public Prosecutor's decision to close a criminal case involving online betting platforms. According to a public statement, the ACCJ denied claims made by the Online Betting Platforms Group, which had suggested that the justice system had declared their operations legal. The association is said to have clarified that the decision not to pursue charges in a specific case does not amount to legalization of online betting. It was emphasized that this decision should not be interpreted as official authorization to operate in Chile.

The ACCJ reportedly stated that the market remains unregulated and that urgent action is still needed to establish proper controls. It was also pointed out that this legal outcome should not mislead the public or lawmakers into believing that online betting is now lawful. The association noted that other legal proceedings remain active, including investigations related to tax offenses.

Reports indicated that the Supreme Court has rejected motions for dismissal, which suggests there is enough evidence for further investigation. The ACCJ is said to have reiterated that Chile deserves clear and equal rules for all market participants. The organization reportedly emphasized its commitment to a regulated and fair gaming environment, warning against misinterpretations that could delay necessary reforms.
