Chelsea winger Pedro Neto charged by FA over alleged misconduct after Arsenal match
The Football Association says the Portuguese winger is accused of failing to leave the pitch promptly and/or using abusive language towards match officials after his dismissal in Chelsea’s 2–1 defeat at Arsenal, with a response deadline set for March 9.
Chelsea winger Pedro Neto has been charged by the English Football Association (FA) for alleged improper conduct following his red card in the Premier League clash against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
According to the FA’s case summary, Neto is accused of not leaving the pitch promptly after being sent off and and/or using abusive words towards match officials. The FA has given the player until Monday, March 9 to respond to the charge.
The incident came during a tense second half in which Neto was dismissed in the 70th minute after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession. Chelsea ultimately fell 2–1 to Arsenal, and the dismissal further spotlighted the club’s wider discipline issues this season, which manager Liam Rosenior has publicly addressed while warning that future selections will depend on players improving their conduct.
If the FA commission finds the charge proven, Neto could face additional sanctions beyond the automatic suspension tied to his red card—another reminder that on-field discipline is now becoming a key risk factor for clubs in decisive phases of the season.
