Chelsea were charged with 74 violations of FA rules committed under Abramovich
The Football Association of England (FA) has filed 74 charges against Chelsea football club for violating regulations on agents, working with intermediaries and third-party investments in players. Violations occurred between 2009 and 2022, most of them occurred in the 2010/11-2015/16 seasons.
From 2003 to 2022, the club was owned by Roman Abramovich, but after the billionaire was included in the UK government's sanctions lists, the club was sold to a consortium led by Todd Bowley. Before the sale of the club, the new owners became aware of irregularities in the records management, which they reported to the FA, who later launched an investigation. According to Chelsea itself, access to all files and historical checks was provided during the audit, ensuring full transparency.
According to BBC Sport, the club may receive a fine, transfer ban or points deduction, but the fact that full transparency is provided during the investigation will also be taken into account.
