Champions League Matchday 4: Como Equal Historic Record, PSG Score Six and Liverpool Lose in Istanbul
The fourth round of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League produced extraordinary results, including Como's record-equalling 9–1 victory, PSG's six-goal demolition of Villarreal and Fenerbahçe's dramatic win over Liverpool.
The UEFA Champions League reached the halfway point of its league phase on November 3–4, with 18 matches delivering major surprises, impressive comebacks and significant developments in the race for knockout qualification.
The biggest story came from France, where Champions League newcomers Como crushed Lens 9–1, equalling the largest winning margin in the competition's history. Tasos Douvikas scored a hat-trick as Cesc Fàbregas' team climbed to fourth place.
Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain maintained their perfect record with a spectacular 6–0 away victory against Villarreal. Four goals arrived within the opening 17 minutes, while Fabián Ruiz completed a double.
Liverpool suffered their first defeat of the league phase, losing 3–2 to Fenerbahçe in Istanbul. Vedat Muriqi scored the decisive goal in the 79th minute, securing the Turkish club's first Champions League victory since 2008.
Real Madrid also experienced a dramatic evening, recovering twice against AEK Athens before Federico Valverde's stoppage-time winner sealed a 3–2 victory and preserved their perfect start.
Manchester City edged Leipzig 3–2 thanks to a late Erling Haaland goal, while Arsenal defeated Slavia Prague 2–1 to move into third place.
Manchester United ended a nine-match winless run across all competitions with a remarkable 3–2 comeback against Roma. Matheus Cunha scored twice late in the match after United had trailed 0–2.
Elsewhere, Barcelona defeated Aston Villa 3–0, Bayern Munich won 2–0 at Atlético Madrid, Inter beat Feyenoord 3–0 and Porto overcame Napoli 4–1.
With four of eight league-phase matches completed, the competition remains highly competitive. PSG and Real Madrid have maintained perfect records, while Como's remarkable debut campaign demonstrates that established European powers face serious challenges from emerging contenders.
