Casinos could be opened in each of the seven emirates of the UAE
Each of the UAE's seven emirates - Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah - may allow one casino. Bloomberg writes about this.
The first casino will open in 2027 on Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah. Its operator will be the American company Wynn Resorts. The $3.9 billion resort will include a hotel with more than 1,000 rooms, a shopping mall, conference facilities and a spa, among others.
The emirate of Abu Dhabi is also considering the possibility of opening a casino on Yas Island, where the Formula 1 track is located.
Let us recall that in September the country established the General Commercial Gambling Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), which will create a regulatory framework for the National Lottery and commercial gambling. The activities of the gambling regulator will be supervised by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
