Cabo Verde’s highest-ever lottery prize claimed in Totoloto
The Social Games of the Cape Verde Red Cross have recorded the highest lottery prize in the country - 50 million Cape Verdean escudos ($480,000)—won by a single player in Totoloto during Contest No. 47 of 2024.
This victory comes about six months after the digital transformation of the Cape Verde Red Cross social games aiming to modernize lottery operations by enabling online participation, enhancing accessibility, and integrating banking services for smoother transactions. This initiative increased player engagement and revenue, with profits supporting charitable activities throughout the country.
It is important to note that all prizes are subject to a 20% tax on property gains, as per current legislation. Since the digitalization of these social games, more than 10,000 prizes are distributed weekly, reflecting an increase in opportunities for players due to new betting options and prize tiers introduced with Totoloto.
The lottery in Cabo Verde is regulated and operated by the Red Cross through JOGOS Cruz Vermelha, offering various games, including Totoloto.
