Brooklyn Beckham confirms estrangement from parents in public statement on family feud

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, the eldest son of former Manchester United and Real Madrid star David Beckham, has issued a lengthy public statement confirming his estrangement from his parents and accusing them of putting the “Beckham brand” ahead of family ties.

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, 26, has publicly addressed his long-rumoured conflict with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, in a six-page statement shared on Instagram. In the post, Brooklyn says he is estranged from his family and states that he does not wish to reconcile, alleging years of tension that intensified around his 2022 wedding to actor Nicola Peltz.

He accuses his parents of prioritising the Beckham “brand” over genuine family relationships, claiming they have “controlled the narrative” in the media and spread “countless lies” to maintain an image of a perfect family. According to Brooklyn, this included alleged attempts to sabotage his relationship and wedding, such as pressuring him over rights to his name, last-minute changes to the wedding dress plans, and what he describes as his mother “hijacking” his first dance and behaving in a way he found humiliating.

Brooklyn says he and his wife have felt disrespected and sidelined, pointing to incidents like being blocked on social media by relatives and feeling excluded from key family events. He writes that he has asked his parents to contact him only through lawyers and insists he has no intention of seeking a reunion, arguing that creating distance has brought him “peace” for the first time in years.

David Beckham, speaking during an appearance on CNBC at the World Economic Forum in Davos, avoided addressing the specific allegations but commented more broadly on parenting in the social-media age, saying that “children make mistakes” and that it is important to let them learn from those mistakes. He did not refer directly to Brooklyn’s statement or the details of the feud.

The Beckham family has otherwise remained publicly silent, while the statement has sparked widespread debate about fame, family dynamics and brand management, with some commentators comparing the situation to high-profile estrangements in other public families. For now, Brooklyn maintains that he has drawn a line under his relationship with his parents, even as media and public interest in the feud continues to grow.
