Brazil’s Sports Ministry Hosts Workshop on Betting Integrity in Partnership with IBIA

On 23 October 2025, the Ministry of Sports of Brazil (MEsp), in conjunction with the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), held a workshop titled “Protecting Sports Betting: Integrity in Action” aimed at reinforcing transparency and integrity in the regulated sports-betting sector.

The workshop was organised through the National Secretariat for Sports Betting and Economic Development of Sport (Snaede) and formed part of the agenda of the inter-ministerial working group established under Ordinance MESP/MF/MJSP No. 1/2025 to combat manipulation of sports outcomes.

During the event, IBIA experts presented their global methodology for identifying suspicious wagering patterns and producing integrity reports. The association also reviewed current trends in betting integrity both in Brazil and internationally. Giovanni Rocco, National Secretary for Sports Betting, emphasised the importance of collaborative training:

“Today we held training for our entire team and for the Ministry of Finance team responsible for the integrity side of betting, together with IBIA… This joint effort and knowledge-sharing process are extremely important so that we can, in practice, tackle this problem.”

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to building a safe and transparent sports-betting environment for athletes, fans, clubs and licensed operators. Denise Nóbrega, Director of Sports-Betting Integrity at Snaede, described “integrity in sport” as a “non-negotiable pillar”.

Industry analysts view the workshop as a concrete step in MEsp’s broader effort to align Brazilian regulation with international best practices, especially at a time when the national sports betting sector is expanding rapidly under federal oversight. The event also signals that integrity controls will be a core priority as opposed to simply market growth.
