Brazil’s Ministry of Sport signs key partnerships to fight match-fixing in sports betting
On May 14, 2025, Brazil’s Ministry of Sport signed cooperation agreements with five organizations specializing in monitoring betting and preventing match-fixing, aiming to strengthen sports integrity and regulate the betting sector. The partners-Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA), International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), Sportradar, the Brazilian Association of Bets and Fantasy Sport (ABFS), and Genius Sports-are internationally recognized for promoting fair play in sports.
Minister André Fufuca called the agreements a turning point in combating result manipulation, emphasizing integrity as essential for ethical and transparent outcomes. The partnerships provide advanced tools to detect irregular betting patterns, support real-time market monitoring, and deliver training for regulatory staff, with the first session set for May 15.
Sportradar’s Integrity Director, Felippe Marchetti, highlighted their role in educating officials and athletes about betting risks, while Tiago Horta of Genius Sports stressed that only cross-sector cooperation can effectively tackle match-fixing. Each agreement will last five years, with the Ministry expecting these partnerships to set new standards for sports integrity in Brazil.
