Brazilian Senate passes sports betting bill
Brazilian Senate passed a bill on sports betting. A number of amendments were made to the document previously approved by the House of Representatives. In this regard, the document was returned to the House of Representatives for a new vote.
As previously reported, the bill allows only companies registered under Brazilian law in the country to offer gambling. A three-year operator's licence will be available for 30 million Brazilian reais. Companies accepting sports betting in Brazil will pay a tax of 12%
Only licensed operators will be able to advertise sports betting. At the same time, they will be prohibited from offering bonuses to customers.
The draft law also introduces a 15% tax on players' winnings.
The amended document has been returned to the Chamber of Deputies for reconsideration.
