Brazil to Direct Part of Lottery Revenue to Healthcare
Brazil's Federal Tax Service has approved the allocation of revenue from fixed-stakes lotteries to the country's health care system.
On September 2, Declaratory Act Codar No. 22 was published, which comes into effect immediately and introduces tax code 6524, used in federal revenue collection documents to distribute resources among national health ministries.
According to the new regulation, part of the tax revenue from licensed lottery operators will be allocated to public health, in particular to prevent and control the social consequences of gambling.
With the help of a special code, the tax service will be able to simplify the monitoring of resources and ensure transparency.
