Botswana Gambling Authority awards 10 Bookmaker and Totalisator licenses

The Gambling Authority of Botswana has successfully completed the licensing process for Bookmaker and Totalisator operations, announcing the award of licenses to ten companies. This decision, made during a board meeting on August 9, 2024, aims to enhance the country's gambling industry, aligning with national goals for economic growth and job creation.

Mr. Marvin Torto, Chairperson of the Gambling Authority, emphasized the importance of this initiative, which promises to foster responsible gambling practices. Emolemo Peter Kesitilwe, the Chief Executive Officer, noted that this development is a significant step towards achieving Vision 2036 and supports President Dr. Mokgweetsi E.K. Masisi’s Reset Agenda, which focuses on innovation and sustainable growth.

The following companies have been awarded Bookmaker Route Operator Licenses: Bet Pula (Pty) Ltd, Sunbet Botswana (Pty) Ltd, Pstbet Botswana (Pty) Ltd, and Mecaville Enterprises (Pty) Ltd.

Additionally, the companies granted Bookmaker Independent Operator Licenses are Direct Wholesale (Pty) Ltd, Delta Bay (Pty) Ltd, SNB Investments (Botswana) (Pty) Ltd, Pula Fela Investments (Pty) Ltd, J & Q Investments (Pty) Ltd, and Hollywoodbets Botswana (Pty) Ltd.

Gambling Authority, a government agency established to oversee gambling in Botswana, regulates and oversees the development of the gambling industry. They accept and review license applications, verify information contained in applications, and issue, deny, suspend or revoke licenses.
