Betway SA20 confirms three-year cricket schedule in South Africa
The official Betway SA20 website reports that the league and Cricket South Africa have secured the tournament's future by establishing a fixed competition window for the next three years.
Season 4 of the highly anticipated league will take place during South Africa’s peak festive season, running from 26 December 2025 to 26 January 2026. The tournament will lead up to the ICC T20 World Cup, scheduled for February 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.
In 2027, SA20 will return to its traditional January slot, with Season 5 set for 9 January to 14 February. This revised schedule aims to provide a longer recovery period between matches while reducing weekday fixtures to enhance player performance and fan engagement.
Cricket enthusiasts can also look forward to a landmark year in 2027, as South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia will jointly host the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in October and November.
The sixth season of SA20, scheduled from 9 January to 13 February 2028, will maintain the competition’s presence in the global cricket calendar.
Betway SA20 League Commissioner Graeme Smith emphasized the importance of long-term scheduling to ensure the competition’s continued success.
"Confirming the Betway SA20 window for a three-year period allows the League to bring certainty to all stakeholders and assists in securing our place when planning the global calendar," Smith stated.
