Betway Botswana nears full operational status with launch set for December 2024
Betway Botswana is on the brink of full operation following the issuance of a bookmaker license by the Gambling Authority. The company’s new shop, located at BESCO Mall in Block 10, Gaborone, is set to open its doors in December 2024.
The entry of Betway into the local market is expected to have widespread economic benefits, including job creation, increased tax revenue, higher property values, and boosted activity in sectors such as construction, utilities, and real estate. The company's operations align with Betway's global reputation as a key player in the sports betting and sponsorship landscape, supporting major brands such as West Ham United and Arsenal and sponsoring the Betway Premier Soccer League with an impressive 300 million Rands per season.
In a post on November 28, the Botswana Gambling Authority revealed the beneficiaries of Betway Botswana’s operations under its parent company, Delta Bay (Pty) Ltd. Four young Batswana—Chedza Julius, Edwin Masuge, Gloria Majaga, and Kebinatshipi Collen—were named as stakeholders, reflecting a strong commitment to empowering local talent.
Speaking at the event, Betway Botswana CEO Emolemo Peter Kesitilwe emphasized the company’s focus on empowering marginalized groups, including women, youth, and persons with disabilities. “This is not just about expanding the gambling industry; it’s about ensuring that economic opportunities are accessible to all,” he said.
