HKGC betting turnover hit a record high in FY 2022/2023

The turnover of the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) in the financial year ended 30 June 2022/2023 reached a record HK$304.80 billion (US$38.94 billion). This was reported in a report published on 5 September by the monopoly gaming operator of the Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.

According to the contents of the document, the turnover of betting on horse racing was HK$140.4 billion, while the turnover of betting on football was HK$156.9 billion. In addition, HK$3.5 billion came from the sale of Mark Six lottery tickets.

HKJC's revenue from horse racing reached HK$19.4 billion, from football betting reached HK$20.7 billion and from the Mark Six lottery reached HK$446.2 million.

Transfers from HKJC activities totalled HK$35.9 billion, which was also a record. Of this amount, HK$28.6 billion related to betting duties, income tax and Lotteries Fund contributions. A further HK$7.3bn was paid in charitable donations.
