BetPawa and FECOFA partner to promote football in the Democratic Republic of Congo
As reported by Actualite.cd, during the "Kinshasa Solidaire" event held from December 2 to December 4, 2024, BetPawa RDC announced a partnership with the Fédération Congolaise de Football Association (FECOFA) aimed at supporting the development and promotion of football in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
BetPawa RDC committed to reinvesting a portion of its profits into Congolese football, beginning in 2025, as outlined in a roadmap co-developed with FECOFA's leadership.
The General Director of BetPawa RDC explained that the partnership aims to ensure direct investment into football, emphasizing transparency and efficiency. He highlighted that the mechanism will allow match bonuses to be transferred directly to players and officials via mobile money systems. This approach, facilitated by FECOFA, ensures that funds reach their intended recipients without intermediary delays.
FECOFA's President, Dieudonné Sambi Nsele-Lutu, stated that the collaboration represents a first-of-its-kind agreement in the region, benefiting clubs directly while ensuring the federation only receives a commission for its administrative role. He emphasized that the partnership’s focus on empowering clubs and athletes aligns with principles of good governance and accountability.
Additionally, BetPawa introduced its "Locker Room Bonus" initiative, designed to reward players and officials immediately after victories. This program, already operational in other African countries, aims to support athletes and promote equality and diversity in sports.
BetPawa currently operates in 15 African countries, including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Malawi, Rwanda, Mozambique, Lesotho, Eswatini, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, and Gabon. The company initially started in Uganda in 2014 and has expanded its presence across the continent through its innovative betting services. BetPawa is known for offering mobile payment options, bonuses, and promotions to support user engagement and convenience. Their focus on accessibility and customer satisfaction has contributed to their growth throughout the region.
