Benin and Liberia strengthen collaboration on gaming sector regulation
Last week, Benin’s Gaming Sector Supervisory Unit (Cellule de Supervision du Secteur des Jeux, CSJ) hosted a delegation from Liberia, facilitating an exchange of expertise and strategies for modernizing the regulation of gambling and betting industries. The Liberian team, joined by representatives from regulatory solutions provider Sharp Vision, engaged with CSJ officials to discuss Benin’s best practices and recent regulatory reforms.
Key topics included bolstering security, ensuring compliance, and maintaining integrity in the gaming sector, with a focus on addressing the complexities posed by evolving technologies and ethical concerns. This collaborative visit highlighted the mutual commitment of both countries to establishing robust, innovative mechanisms for responsible and transparent management within their gaming industries.
The CSJ in Benin, an independent regulatory authority, plays a crucial role in overseeing the country’s gaming sector, working to prevent abuse and uphold standards of fair play. Meanwhile, Sharp Vision supports state actors by providing regulatory solutions that facilitate oversight of gaming transactions and manage financial flows, contributing to government efforts to ensure a well-regulated environment.
In both Benin and Liberia, gambling is legal and regulated. In Benin, the government supervises lotteries, casinos, and sports betting to maintain compliance and fairness. Similarly, Liberia’s National Lottery Authority oversees a variety of gaming activities, ensuring adherence to licensing and operational standards across the sector.
