Ban on sponsorship by gambling companies proposed in Lithuania
A ban on sponsorship by gambling companies is proposed to be introduced in Lithuania. Corresponding amendments to the Law on Gambling have been prepared by members of the Parliament of the Baltic country.
Any public events, including events organised by individuals and legal entities, will fall under the ban.
According to the content of the bill, gambling advertising will be prohibited on television, news websites, print media, as well as on street billboards. Logos of gambling companies will also be banned from being placed on athletes' T-shirts and stadiums. Information related to a gambling company can be placed only on the operator's website, in a gambling establishment or in a specialised gambling publication.
It is planned that the amendments to the Law on Gambling will come into force in 2025.
