Arsenal rout Spurs 4 1 to protect their lead as Man United climb into the top four
The North London derby win kept Arsenal five points clear of Manchester City (with City holding a game in hand), while Manchester United’s 1–0 at Everton strengthened their Champions League push.
Arsenal delivered a statement win on 22 February, hammering Tottenham 4–1 in the North London derby. A brace apiece from Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyökeres underlined the gap between the sides on the day.
The result mattered beyond bragging rights: Arsenal’s derby victory restored a five-point cushion over Manchester City at the top, with City still holding a game in hand—meaning the title race remains tight despite Arsenal’s control of first place.
For Tottenham, the loss deepened a growing crisis. Spurs are now described as just four points above the relegation zone, a dramatic shift for a club that expected to be chasing Europe, not fighting for survival.
A day later, on 23 February, Manchester United edged Everton 1–0, with Benjamin Šeško again delivering from the bench.
That narrow win had immediate table impact: it lifted United into the Premier League’s top four, giving them breathing room in the Champions League race as the run-in begins.
Two matches, two very different pressures—Arsenal using derby dominance to keep City at arm’s length, and United grinding out points to hold a top-four spot—while Tottenham’s season has quickly shifted into a battle simply to stay up.
