Arsenal lift Premier League trophy after final-day win as Manchester City finish seven points behind
Arsenal ended their title-winning Premier League season with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace, while Manchester City’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa left the champions seven points clear at the top of the table.
Arsenal closed the 2025/26 Premier League season in champion style, beating Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park before lifting the trophy for the first time since the 2003/04 campaign. The result confirmed a final total of 85 points for Mikel Arteta’s team, seven more than second-placed Manchester City.
The Gunners had already secured the title before the final round, but the win over Palace gave the celebrations an ideal finish. Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring, Noni Madueke added Arsenal’s second goal, and Jean-Philippe Mateta pulled one back for the hosts. Arsenal still held on to complete the season with 26 wins, seven draws and only five defeats.
Manchester City, meanwhile, ended the campaign with a 2-1 home defeat to Aston Villa. City took the lead through Antoine Semenyo, but Ollie Watkins scored twice after the break to give Villa a major final-day win and secure fourth place. The defeat left City on 78 points, ending a season in which Pep Guardiola’s side lost the title race after years of domestic dominance.
The final day also brought relief for Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs beat Everton 1-0 thanks to João Palhinha’s goal and secured their Premier League survival, finishing 17th with 41 points. West Ham were relegated despite beating Leeds 3-0, finishing two points behind Tottenham.
For Arsenal, the final table underlined the scale of the achievement. Arteta’s team finished with the league’s best defensive record, conceding only 27 goals, and matched Manchester City’s title-level consistency over the course of 38 matches. The seven-point gap gives the championship a strong statistical finish after several seasons in which Arsenal had come close but failed to overtake City.
The trophy lift now shifts Arsenal’s season from breakthrough to legacy. After ending a 22-year wait for the Premier League title, the club can look ahead with a stronger position at home and renewed confidence in Europe. For City and Tottenham, the final day told very different stories: one marked the end of a title cycle, while the other simply brought survival and the chance to rebuild.
