Argentina Publishes Resolution 446/2025 to Tighten Online Gambling Advertising Standards
A new federal resolution from the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce (Ministry of Economy) of Argentina introduces stricter rules for how online gaming and sports betting can be advertised across the country.
On November 3, 2025, Argentina published Resolution 446/2025 in the Official Gazette, setting out mandatory requirements for advertising campaigns promoting online gambling. The key provisions include:
- All ads must display two health-warnings: “COMPULSIVE GAMBLING IS HARMFUL TO YOUR HEALTH” and “+18”.
- The warnings must appear at the bottom of the advertisement, occupy at least 10% of the ad’s height (or per other sources 5%), and be in bold typography with contrasting colours for visibility.
- For audiovisual formats, the warnings must remain visible for a minimum duration, while radio adverts must include the warnings at the end, clearly spoken without background music.
- Influencer marketing is included: any paid promotion of betting services must include the warnings, and an official channel for consumer reporting of non-compliant influencers has been established.
The regulation aims to standardise advertising practices in Argentina’s 23 provinces and 1,170 municipalities, addressing fragmentation in previous rules and offering a unified national framework. The enforcement date is set approximately 30 days after publication, giving operators time to adapt.
Industry observers view the move as part of Argentina’s growing focus on responsible gambling, particularly the protection of minors and vulnerable groups, as online betting advertising has increasingly used social media and influencers. The resolution is seen as advancing transparency and consumer protection in the gaming sector.
