Angola's gaming sector generated 10.1 billion kwanzas in tax revenue for the state in 2023, with expectations to reach 16 billion kwanzas this year, according to Paulo Ringote, Director-General of the Gaming Supervision Institute (ISJ).
Ringote, speaking at the opening of the "Panorama of the Gaming Sector in Angola 2023" presentation ceremony, revealed that the gaming market had a positive performance in 2023, with gross revenue reaching 37 billion kwanzas.
"The gaming sector is growing, we think it is consolidating," said Ringote.
The ISJ promoted the public presentation of the report on their YouTube Channel.
Currently, there are 23 operators in the Angolan gambling market, with ten in games of chance, three in territorial sports betting, and ten in online games.
On July 15th, the deputies of the Angolan National Assembly's specialty committee approved the Gaming Activity Bill, which aims to establish a legal framework for regulating and controlling gambling while safeguarding the rights of players and operators.
Key provisions of this bill include defining the responsibilities of concessionaires and licensing requirements to ensure gambling activities adhere to legal standards. The proposal is now set for final overall voting.
