Angola’s gambling sector sees record growth in Q3 2024

The Gaming Supervision Institute of Angola (ISJ)  has released the Rapid Information Bulletin on the Gaming Sector (FIRJ), presenting statistical and fiscal data for the third quarter of 2024.

According to the report, the sector recorded positive performance, directly contributing Kz 3,908,091,927 (three billion, nine hundred and eight million, ninety-one thousand, nine hundred and twenty-seven Kwanzas) in revenue to the national treasury. Online gaming, including sports betting and games of chance, emerged as the top revenue contributors.

When compared to the same period in 2023, revenue collection from the Special Gaming Tax (IEJ) showed significant growth, increasing by Kz 1,248,366,927 (one billion, two hundred and forty-eight million, three hundred and sixty-six thousand, nine hundred and twenty-seven Kwanzas), marking a 47% rise.

Cumulatively, by the end of the third quarter, the gaming sector contributed a total of Kz 12,225,436,757 (twelve billion, two hundred and twenty-five million, four hundred and thirty-six thousand, seven hundred and fifty-seven Kwanzas) to the national treasury. This revenue was generated through the payment of the Special Gaming Tax and administrative service fees.

The Gaming Supervision Institute operates under the Ministry of Finance and is tasked with supporting the government in shaping policies for the gaming industry and overseeing its regulation and supervision.
