12 nations gather in Marrakech for the Grand Prix d'Afrique, highlighting African horse racing and lotteries

For the third year in a row, Marrakech is hosting the Grand Prix d’Afrique, celebrating horse racing and lotteries across Africa. Organized by SOREC and the African Lotteries Association (ALA), the event kicked off on October 31 at the Marrakech National Stud. SOREC’s Managing Director Omar Skalli and ALA President Dramane Coulibaly, who leads Côte d'Ivoire’s National Lottery (LONACI), led the inauguration.

The event features 12 delegations from Mali, Côte d'Ivoire, Benin, and other nations, focusing on gaming regulation, security, and taxation. Skalli highlighted this year’s addition of an exhibition for sponsors to showcase IT innovations to lottery professionals. Dramane Coulibaly announced a seminar on game regulation and public exhibitions as key new elements.

Claude Solange Tshibaka of the DRC National Lottery emphasized the need for African collaboration. The program will address industry challenges while promoting knowledge exchange. The Grand Prix d’Afrique, moved from France to Marrakech in 2022, aims to enhance visibility and strengthen African partnerships.
