$1.13 billion jackpot hit in Mega Millions lottery
This week the Mega Millions lottery has hit a jackpot of $1.13 billion after a series of drawings without a winner, making it the eighth-largest prize in U.S. lottery history.
The winning ticket for this massive jackpot was sold in New Jersey's Monmouth County, with the lucky numbers being 7, 11, 22, 29, 38, and the Mega Ball 4.
The winner has the choice between receiving the prize as an annuity over 30 years or a lump sum cash payment of $537.5 million before taxes. Mega Millions drawings occur on Tuesdays and Fridays, with tickets priced at $2 each. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350. The Powerball jackpot has also been growing, with its next drawing offering an estimated $559 million. Both games have seen significant jackpot amounts, attracting players across the U.S. and beyond.
