  More than Ksh15.1 billion was collected by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) from excise duty on betting and winnings tax in the 2022/23 financial year ended 30 June. This is according to a Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) report released this week.

  The excise tax on sports betting and lotteries has increased in Kenya since July 1, 2023. The corresponding provision is contained in the Financial Bill for 2023, adopted by the country's parliament and signed by the country's president, William Ruto.
