KwaZulu-Natal gaming sector's revenue drive creates over 11,600 jobs

The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Gaming and Betting Board has accumulated over R724 million, resulting in the creation of 11,600 jobs. As reported on the official Facebook page of the KwaZulu-Natal government, this was announced at Gambling Regulators African Forum (GRAF) Conference.

This revenue has been allocated towards funding various public service initiatives, including road construction, housing, and education. The gaming sector has made substantial investments in KZN, exceeding R2 billion, which has bolstered tourism and construction, leading to the generation of additional employment opportunities.

The Board oversees the regulation of horse racing events like the Durban July, which yields R4.5 million in prize money and R140 million in turnover, providing benefits across multiple sectors.

The 15th annual conference of the Gambling Regulators African Forum (GRAF) 2024, dedicated to gaming and betting regulators and stakeholders, is taking place in Durban under the auspices of the KwaZulu-Natal Gaming and Betting Council.
