India clinch second T20 World Cup title after 13-year wait

India emerged victorious in a nail-biting final against South Africa, clinching their second T20 World Cup title at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday.

Virat Kohli: Top scorer with a vital 76 off 59 balls, anchoring the Indian innings.

This victory ended India’s 13-year wait for an ICC title. Their last world title came in the 50-over format in 2011.

The ICC Men's T20 World Cup, passed from June 1st to June 29th, 2024, across venues in the West Indies and the United States. With a record 20 teams participated, up from 16 in the last event, the competition was fierce.

The tournament structure did include an initial phase where teams are grouped into four pools of five, with each team facing off against their pool opponents in four matches. The top two teams from each pool progressed to the Super 8s round. From here, the knockout stage unfolded, culminating in the final match.
